A few like-minded Goshen, Indiana residents got together to discuss the formation of a grass roots organization that would like to increase the awareness of the illegal immigration problem in the area. The group started with 5 residents discussing the problem. Our first formal meeting was held on June 1, 2008. We met with the founders of a group from the Valparaiso area called IFIRE and they gave us suggestions on the formation of our group. Total in attendance at that first meeting was 13.  As the word got out about the group, the attendance at our meetings grew slightly.  The membership grew dramatically once there was a notice in the Elkhart Truth about our group. Both the Goshen News and the Elkhart Truth did front page articles on the group in August 2008. The meeting on September 3rd was attended by 90 people. As of May 1, 2009 we have over 275 registered members in the group.
